After the Funeral

The cremation and the disposal of ashes is recorded in the registers held at the crematorium. We provide a biodegradable box for the cremated remains, or we can provide a plastic urn by request. We also have a small range of alternative urns and caskets for sale from the office.

The collection of ashes is always from our admin office which is situated just inside the main gate on the right.  Please bring photo ID with you.

The ashes may be collected by the person who signed the paperwork for the cremation (the applicant), or on their behalf by a named representative or funeral director.  Should the applicant later wish to change instructions we will need this in writing from them.

You may wish to have the ashes laid to rest in our gardens of remembrance, perhaps with others previously placed in the gardens.  Should you decide not to be present then please ensure you provide the previous deceased full name and year of death so that we can place them in the correct  location. You will need to make an appointment through the office if you would like to be present for the interment of the ashes.

There are a range of memorial options you may wish to consider, details of which may be found under the Memorials page on our website. A member of staff is available (by appointment) should you wish to have a tour of the grounds to assist you in your choices.

This decision need not be taken immediately. People often wish to take time to decide the best form of memorial, so we will care for the ashes for up to 3 months after the service.  After this time we will make contact with you to see if we are able to assist you further.
