The Granite Niche is an individual above-ground chamber that has been designed for the placing of up to four sets of cremated remains (depending on your selection). The chamber is sealed by a granite tablet that can be inscribed with your choice of inscription. Although designed to hold cremated remains, the Granite Niche may also be used for memorial purposes only.
The Granite Niches are situated within the Garden of Remembrance and are easily accessible. A flower vase is incorporated into the base plate of the Niche so that you may leave fresh flowers.
The Granite Niche may be leased for an initial period of 15 years. The lease may be renewed at the end of the initial lease. If the lease is not renewed, the cremated remains will be removed from the Niche and may be collected by the lease holder. Alternatively, they can be interred in the Garden of Remembrance.
The Niche remains the property of the North East Surrey Crematorium Board throughout the lease period, but the inscribed tablet is the property of the applicant. At the end of the lease period, if the lease is not renewed, the tablet will be removed and may be collected by the lease holder. Alternatively, it can be disposed of sensitively by the Board.
The cost of the Niche and tablet includes your chosen inscription. A motif / photo plaque may be added at an additional cost. A proof of your layout and design will be produced and sent to you for approval before the panel is engraved.
